TKA Announces Intermediate Science Fair Winners
The King’s Academy conducted its Intermediate Science Fair on Tuesday, February 10, 2015. Students from third through fifth grades completed experiments concerning various scientific topics. Prizes for the science fair were generously donated by the Gatlinburg Mountain Coaster and Wonderworks. The Grand Prize winner of this years’ Science Fair was fourth grader Alana Weidman for her experimentation with sodium polyacrylate and its prevention of fire damage. Other winners of this years’ competition were:
Third Grade: 1st: Zac Wallace, 2nd: Peyton Brooks, 3rd: MJ Johnson, and Honorable Mention: Harrison Rollins
Fourth Grade: 1st: Abby Day, 2nd Emaleigh Tarplay, 3rd: Kayla Barr, and Honorable Mention: Rachel Knight
Fifth Grade: 1st: Allison Dabi, 2nd: Gavin Hensley, 3rd: Mandi Jo Thomasson, and Honorable Mention: Jonah Lee
Best Journal: Clay Branton- Fifth grade
Most Artistic: Rylan Smith- Fourth grade
Environmental Awareness Award: Gavin Hensley-fifth grade
Principal’s Award: Taylor Daft- Fifth grade
President’s Award: Karrington Leist- fifth grade
Students will now have the opportunity to compete in the Tate’s Regional Science Fair in April.
