TKA Announces 2015 Speech Contest Winners
The oratory contest at The King’s Academy was packed with stiff competition this spring!
Students in grades 5-8 were assigned a subject from which they could select their topics. 2015 contestants were to select a historical place and tell why it is significant. After researching and writing a report on their topics, the students presented their speeches to their teachers and peers. Teachers from each grade level selected up to four students to compete in the school-wide oratory contest sponsored by Woodmen of the World.
The King’s Academy is pleased to announce the top eight winners and their topics:
1st Place – Wendell Thornton, Dumbarton Oaks
2nd Place – Regan Weekly, Roman Colosseum
3rd Place – Grant Webb, The Tower of London
4th Place – Tyler Overdorf, The Twin Towers
5th Place – Ashley Everett, Great Smoky Mountains
6th Place – Zac Shaffer, Monticello
7th Place – Nathaniel Hall, Mesa Verde
8th Place – Taylor Daft, Ohio State Stadium
