Swimming

Coached by Head Coach Tonya Rollins (trollins@thekingsacademy.net), the King’s Academy Swim Team is offered for all middle school and high school students. Practices consist of two hours three times a week at the Sevierville Community Center. Swimmers compete in meets against other local teams, as well as the Championship meet for middle school and City/State meet for high school.

Swimming offers something no other aerobic exercise does: the ability
to work the body without harsh impact. Regular swimming builds endurance,
cardio-vascular fitness, and muscle strength. It can serve as a cross-training
element to your regular workouts or other sports.

In addition, spending time in a group workout, like swimming, is a great
social outlet. Exchanging stories, challenging each other, and sharing in the hard
work make swimming with others a rewarding experience.

Tennis

My name is Coach Adam Hall (tkatennis@gmail.com). I’ve been coaching tennis at The King’s Academy for five years. I played high school tennis at Marion Senior High in Marion, VA and college tennis at Concord University, NCAA Division II school in the WVIAC in Athens, WV.  I had an outstanding coach at Concord–Bob Brown. Under Coach Brown’s instruction and leadership is where my desire to one day coach myself was formed. I believe my relaxed and easy going coaching style is a direct result of those years with Coach Brown. As the good Lord would have it, I have been able to accomplish that dream at The King’s Academy.

In my time at TKA we have achieved a few milestones. In 2010 we had our first undefeated Lady Lions tennis team; and Christine Gwodog becoming our first TSAA Division II-A Girls State Tennis Champion. Then in 2011 Christine finished 3rd at the state tournament. Christine has since gone on to play for Prairie View A&M on a full scholarship in Texas.

I love seeing kids fall in love with the game of tennis. It is truly a lifetime sport that they can enjoy well beyond their years at school. With enough determination and desire I can teach them the game and develop that appreciation.

Volleyball

Head Coach: Maggie Roark.

The King’s Academy Middle school volleyball program is an opportunity to engage in a fun learning experience for the sport while emphasizing the basic fundamentals. Although winning is not everything, we do participate in competitive league hosted by the Knoxville Independent School League. Colossians 3:17 states that “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” We give our best in all areas, on and off the court. We use the talents of our local universities to enrich our program. We attend Carson Newman College during the summer for a 4 full- day and night camp. All competitors are encouraged to attend.
