The purpose of an Honors Diploma is to encourage and recognize outstanding academic achievement. In order to earn an Honors Diploma a student must meet the following minimum criteria:
- 2 Advanced Placement courses
- 2 Additional honors courses
- Two 4-year sequences within a specific discipline*
- 25 hours of community service per year of attendance
A student who meets each of these criteria and earns a 3.5 weighted grade point average (GPA) will graduate with High Honors. A student who meets each of these criteria and earns a 3.9 weighted GPA will graduate with Highest Honors.
*A 4-year sequence is obtained by earning 4 credits in one of the following areas of study: math, science, social science, foreign language (can be a combination of more than one language; e. g., two years of Spanish and two years of Latin or three years of Spanish and one year of Latin, etc.), art, drama, or a combination of 4 credits in performance based music courses (music, choir, orchestra).
