The King’s Academy, a Christ centered, college preparatory day and boarding school in Seymour, Tennessee, is seeking a Head Football Coach to lead our program. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent coaching acumen and the ability to mentor student athletes in ways that reflect TKA’s Vision: transformed lives, Christ-like character, academic excellence, and lifelong service, on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.

Program context
Following a necessary pause of varsity competition in Fall 2025, TKA is rebuilding its football program with the goal of fielding a healthy and competitive team in Fall 2026. We seek a head coach who is energized by startup conditions, can build culture and roster depth, and can align competitive goals with the safety and development of student athletes.

The role
The Head Football Coach will lead all aspects of the program in a manner consistent with TKA’s mission and vision, mentoring student athletes on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.

The coach we are seeking

  • A culture builder who can attract, retain, and develop student athletes while modeling Christ-like character.

  • A teacher of the game with a clear plan for player development, strength and conditioning, and staff development.

  • A collaborator who partners well with admissions, middle school athletics, and other sports to encourage multi sport participation.

  • A communicator who engages families, faculty, and supporters with transparency and trust.

  • A program manager who understands scheduling, equipment, facilities, operations, and compliance with school and state athletic association policies.

First year priorities (2025-26)

  • Roster building: attract current TKA students and prospective student athletes; establish a viable depth chart.

  • Player safety and development: install standards for readiness, fundamentals, and year round training.

  • Program structure: work with the head of school and athletic director to determine the appropriate competitive level for Fall 2025 (varsity, JV, or independent schedule) based on roster size and safety.

  • Staffing: identify and mentor assistant coaches and volunteer roles.

  • Culture: implement clear expectations for character, academics, and accountability consistent with TKA’s mission.

  • Community engagement: collaborate with parents and supporters to reestablish healthy traditions and booster support.

Qualifications

  • Prior head coaching or high level coordinator experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated success in program building and player development.

  • Strong commitment to Christian discipleship and academic support for student athletes.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
