Understanding EFS

More Choice for Tennessee Families.

The Tennessee Education Freedom Scholarship Program allows eligible Tennessee students in grades K–12 to use state education funds toward tuition and other approved educational expenses while enrolled at a participating non-public school.

For families considering The King's Academy, EFS may significantly reduce the financial cost of choosing a Christ-centered education.

Eligibility, scholarship awards, funding, and program requirements are determined by the Tennessee Department of Education.

The Process

How EFS Works at The King's Academy

EFS and TKA admission are two separate processes. Families complete both before scholarship funds can be applied to a student's TKA account.

1

Apply Through Tennessee

Families apply directly to the Tennessee Department of Education during the state's announced EFS application period.

2

Complete TKA Admission

Submit a separate application to The King's Academy and complete TKA's normal admission process.

3

Confirm Enrollment

Students receiving EFS must be enrolled at a participating school before scholarship funds can be used for eligible expenses.

4

Apply Funds to Tuition

Once the award and enrollment are confirmed, eligible EFS funds may be applied according to Tennessee program guidelines.
