The King’s Academy in Seymour, Tennessee, is proud to announce the grand opening of the JT Shen Science Wing, a state-of-the-art facility that underscores our commitment to academic excellence and honors a legacy of faith, perseverance, and generosity.
Honoring a Legacy of Faith and Innovation
The JT Shen Science Wing is named in recognition of alumnus Tom Shen and his late father, Jin Tai Shen. Tom Shen, a 1973 graduate of The King’s Academy, has had a distinguished career in technology, founding Software Dynamics and Malauzai Software. His dedication to Christian education is evident through his generous endowment of a scholarship at TKA to support Asian students, reflecting his gratitude for the kindness he received during his time at the academy.
Jin Tai Shen, Tom’s father, was a pioneering figure in Taiwan’s petroleum industry. Educated at Xiamen University and the University of Birmingham, he played a pivotal role in developing alternative fuels during China’s War of Resistance and later led Taiwan’s Kaohsiung Refinery. His commitment to education and community service continues to inspire future generations.
