Participation Philosophy Pays Off
TKA boasts 4 of 5 high schoolers involved in at least one sport.
For the Lions, athletics is about who students become through competition.
The King’s Academy encourages students to take part in individual and team sports as another avenue for developing character, confidence, leadership, and faith.
Interim Athletic Director for 2025–2026 and High School Boys Basketball Coach Coby Jones says The King’s Academy is fulfilling its mission by encouraging students to engage in individual and team interscholastic sports.
While this is increasingly challenging as various distractions, especially technology, compete for students’ attention, TKA is demonstrating that students benefit when they participate.
The growth in self-confidence alone, Jones says, is worth the investment of time and energy. During the past year, 79% of students enrolled in grades 9–12 participated in at least one competitive sport.
That emphasis on participation has been accompanied by competitive success at every level. Lions teams and student-athletes earned championships, postseason appearances, individual honors, college opportunities, and state-level recognition throughout the year.
Below is a partial look at the championships, postseason appearances, individual honors, and milestones recorded across TKA Athletics during the past year.
