Faithful Today.
Preparing for Tomorrow.
As we conclude our first quarter, we celebrate a strong beginning while looking thoughtfully and faithfully toward the future of The King’s Academy.
“And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”
Dear TKA Community,
As we conclude our first quarter and prepare for Fall Break, I want to congratulate our students, faculty, staff, and families on a tremendous start to the school year. There is much to celebrate across The King’s Academy, and I am grateful for the energy, commitment, and sense of community that continue to characterize our campus.
On a personal level, Kristy and I remain incredibly thankful for the way this community has welcomed our family. Over these first several months, we have experienced firsthand what makes TKA special, and we are grateful to call this community home.
Last month, I shared that I wanted to use these updates not only to celebrate life at TKA, but also to give you greater visibility into the broader work of the Academy and where we are headed. As we conclude our first quarter, I want to begin doing just that.
“For such a time as this” is more than a theme for a school year. It is a reminder that stewardship requires us to faithfully care for what has been entrusted to us today while preparing wisely for what comes next.
Thinking Strategically About TKA’s Future
At its core, strategic planning is about making thoughtful, connected decisions that position TKA to fulfill its mission increasingly well in the years ahead.
For us, that begins with our commitment to Christ-centered education and raises important questions.
These questions are interconnected, and good strategic planning brings them together into a common direction.
Listening and Learning
That work begins by understanding where we are today.
Many of you participated in the survey process conducted during the past school year, providing valuable feedback about what you value, where TKA is strong, and where opportunities for growth exist. Since arriving, I have continued listening through conversations with parents, students, faculty and staff, alumni, trustees, and members of the broader community.
We are combining that feedback with a careful look at enrollment and retention, programs, facilities, financial performance, and the changing educational landscape around us. There will also be additional opportunities for our community to participate and provide feedback as this work develops.
Financial Stewardship and Accessibility
One important component of this work is our Financial Stewardship Task Force.
Its purpose is much broader than simply reviewing expenses. We are examining the overall financial model that supports TKA’s mission, including our tuition and fee structure, enrollment strategy and processes, need-based tuition assistance, compensation, facilities, operational efficiencies, fundraising, auxiliary programs, and other opportunities that can strengthen the Academy.
Accessibility for families.
Sustainability for TKA.
Good stewardship means understanding the full financial picture, responsibly managing what families invest in a TKA education, strengthening the Academy’s position, and deploying resources where they can have the greatest impact on our students and mission.
Central to this work is considering both accessibility for families and long-term sustainability for the school.
This is not an exercise focused simply on raising tuition or reducing expenses. Good stewardship means understanding the full financial picture, responsibly managing what families invest in a TKA education, strengthening our financial position, and deploying the resources God has entrusted to us where they can have the greatest impact on our students and mission.
Looking for Opportunities
We are also exploring strategic ventures and opportunities that could strengthen the Academy, enhance the student experience, expand our reach, make better use of our resources, or create additional revenue in ways consistent with our mission.
Not every idea we explore will become part of TKA’s future, nor should it. Our responsibility is to investigate opportunities thoughtfully and determine which ones best align with our mission and long-term priorities.
As all of this work comes together, we will begin identifying the major priorities that should guide TKA over the next several years. The goal is not a long institutional to-do list, but a clear roadmap that helps us determine where to invest our time, people, and resources.
Ultimately, our Board of Trustees is responsible for establishing and approving the long-range strategic direction of the Academy, with our administration, faculty, and staff bringing that direction to life.
Does this move us toward the school we believe God is calling The King’s Academy to become?
We have been entrusted with TKA for such a time as this. We inherited a remarkable legacy stretching back to 1880. Our responsibility is to honor those who came before us, serve our students and families exceptionally well today, and faithfully prepare this Academy for those who will follow.
Thank you for a tremendous first quarter, for your investment in our students, and for the many ways you support and pray for The King’s Academy. Kristy and I are deeply thankful to be part of this community.
I hope each of you enjoys a well-deserved Fall Break and returns rested and refreshed for an exciting second quarter.
This is our time. May we be faithful with it.
In Christ,
The King’s Academy
Faithful with what
has been entrusted to us.
Honoring the generations who came before us, serving our students and families exceptionally well today, and preparing The King’s Academy faithfully for those who will follow.
