Honors Courses
Overview:
Advanced coursework designed to challenge students with more in-depth material and higher expectations. Ideal for students seeking a rigorous academic experience to strengthen their college applications.Additional GPA Weight:
Honors courses receive an additional 0.5 point in GPA calculations.Example: An A in an Honors course earns 4.5 points toward the GPA.
Advanced Placement (AP) Courses
Overview:
College-level courses taught at TKA, culminating in an AP Exam.GPA Bonus:
Students earn an additional 1.0 point if they take the corresponding AP Exam.Example: An A in an AP course earns 5.0 points with the exam.
Dual Enrollment (DE) Courses
- Overview:
College courses taken in partnership with Johnson University, Walters State University, and Pellissippi State Community College. Students earn both high school and college credit. - GPA Bonus:
Dual Enrollment courses automatically earn an additional 1.0 point toward GPA calculations.
Example: An A in a DE course earns 5.0 points.

At The King’s Academy, the College Prep Diploma is our standard, showcasing the academic rigor in all our classes. It prepares students for college and beyond, equipping them with critical thinking, communication skills, and a strong biblical foundation. Requirements for this diploma are listed above.
Honors Diploma
- Must earn 3.75 weighted grade point average (GPA)
- Must complete 25 hours of community service per year of attendance
- 27 Total Credits
- 4 AP/Honors/DE Classes
- 26 ACT/ 1260 SAT Score (83rd Percentile)
Special Distinction Diploma
- Must earn 3.9 weighted GPA
